If I could give Ben and his team 6 stars, I would. I have extensively renovated our house over the past 4 years so I am quite familiar with contractors and subs and consider myself a savvy client (English tudor in Brookline has gotten a new kitchen, windows, 3 story addition, wine cellar, finished basement, backyard retaining wall). Ben was by far the most professional, detail oriented contractor I have ever worked with. To start, he was so reliable. Present on site every single day, from 8am till sunset, which is a rarity in this business. He or his wife answered every email the same day and gave me their personal cell phones, which I tried not to abuse. Second, he was incredibly detail oriented–a true artist whose dedication and personal investment in the beauty of the product was evident. My parents were visiting for 3 weeks of the project and my mother would marvel about how Ben would agonize over choosing the perfect shade of gray or tan to build the next stone into the wall. He never seemed to tire of the details and even drove two hours to inspect some “reclaimed cobblestones” I had fallen in love with online, and found them to be poor quality. He sourced better ones for me to make my vision come true and really seems to “get” what the client wants the end product to look like. Many neighbors have stopped to admire and ask for referrals. Even the town building inspector commented on how this is one of the best masonry jobs he’d seen recently. Third, he and his wife were so accommodating of changes. When I decided I didn’t like the type of steps that were installed, Ben changed it to what I wanted without complaint. When I asked for an intricate pattern of walkway cobblestones to be laid, he made the thousand extra cuts, no problem. Last day of the job, I decide I want a granite windowsill? Done. Fourth, Ben is a wealth of ideas about what will look good. For those that really are anal about the aesthetics of the job, he is a great fit. He will spend the time to discuss different patterns, shapes, and textures. Fifth, Ben worked seamlessly with our landscaper and electrician to make our end result perfect. They loved his can-do team player attitude. Last, Ben and his partner Chris were true gentlemen. They were there every day with a smile, never failed to offer to help me lug bags from my car, would insist on taking my trashcans to the curb for trash day, and left the job site cleaner than they began. BrickStone was not the cheapest quote, but probably the middle of the road after getting 4 quotes. The end product, however, looked like it should have cost $15,000 more than it did! I VERY seldom leave reviews for anyone but I think Ben and his team have more than deserved every accolade they’ve gotten on Houzz. Since I chose them based on these rave reviews, I want to add and give them the best endorsement. You won’t be sorry!

These guys are great, the job came out beautifully and I have already hired them for a second job. They stay in contact throughout the job, they came when they said they were going to and finished in a timely manner. Highly recommended!!

Ben and the Brickstone masons were terrific. They take pride in their work.

The project included the following elements:
— Removing all of the brick and flagstone surfaces from our 46 year-old front steps
— Demolishing loose an unstable concrete, and preparing the foundation for bonding
— Installing blue stone steps and field stone on risers and sides
— Solidly re-installing wrought iron railings
— Straightening and leveling front walk pavers
— Installing blue stone step at the driveway end of the walk.

We were on a trip for the entire five-day project. We were delighted beyond expectations upon our return.

Working with the Brickstone team was a very positive experience. They were easy to work with, clear communicators and responsive. They did what they said — from the work as it was described to showing up when they said they would. It was just completely frictionless.

Beyond that they were excellent about addressing my questions as we went along. I haven’t done any masonry work before so I had lots of questions and doubts about the choices I was making. They were patient and never made me feel like I couldn’t shift gears. In fact I did make some changes along the way and their ideas and suggestions kept me in budget and made me love the end result even more.

Last but not least, the quality of the work is excellent. I see cars stop on the street to admire the parts they can see and I know the work is going to last. I’m quite confident that you will be happy with the work if you hire these guys.

Stairs Came Out Beautiful

We called Brickstone Masonry to give us an estimate for an extensive repair job to our front steps.  They showed up later that day and gave us a free estimate.  The repair was to demo and remove existing bricks and install Bluestone treads with overhang on front and sides.  Grind out and repoint all exposed brick.  Replace cracked brick.  They did such a professional job and in a very timely manner.  They cleaned up the work area spotless.  The stairs came out beautiful and we get compliments everyday.
